220 species of reptiles, 160 species of amphibians, 34 000 species of insects and 1 600 species of fish.
Costa Rica ranks among the 14 nations possess more than 23% of their area under protection
(25.6% of national parks or ecological reserves). This small country has managed to stop deforestation
(75% of the territory was covered in forest in 1950, 25% today).
